Architects & Engineers

SDS regularly supports architects and engineers, in essence functioning as a sub-contractor to free valuable time for client relations and other services. As the architect or engineer, you can offer all the services to your client that SDS provides as part of your total project package. SDS will add value to your assessments, system designs, and project management by providing expertise in the areas of electronic security and fire systems that your firm may not possess. Our work with design professionals is always done with the environment and functionality of the specific project structures and facilities in mind.

SDS will attend interviews and proposal evaluation sessions as part of your project team if necessary, in a panel format or individually.

Assessment

SDS will attend any appropriate client meetings and /or conduct the necessary interviews to determine the appropriate physical and electronic electronic security protection to be included in the project.

SDS utilizes Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) strategies and concepts in the electronic and physical security assessment and design process. We can perform plan reviews and will make recommendations about the building design from a security and crime prevention point of view while emphasizing the objectives of the project’s agency or organization.

System Design

SDS will write comprehensive design specifications for burglary, CCTV, access control, gate operator, and fire systems. We will match the style of your existing specifications and coordinate to reference all appropriate sections. These specifications will be of design s based on the assessment of the facility.

SDS will provide drawings in AutoCAD of the systems designed. Again, we will match the style of your existing drawings and coordinate to reference appropriate drawings. Alternatively, we can provide the necessary symbols and locations to your in-house AutoCAD personnel for drawing.

SDS will provide system cost projections based on the utilization of proper installation techniques for you to include in your overall project cost projection.

Project Management

When your firm is required to manage the project, SDS can be your subcontractor for the project management of the electronic and physical security systems. We will ensure that the designed system is installed according to the design specifications, on time, and on budget. Our project management services are available during both the procurement and construction phases of the project. SDS also provides quality control services for the project if clients such as educational institutions require your firm to provide that function.
